What is the difference between our optical tubes and all others from various vendors? Each and every MallinCam VRC line optical tubes are shipped via Air Freight to our warehouse from the manufacturer to avoid sea salt contamination that can shorten the life of your optical tube reflective coatings. Other vendors use sea containers to ship their optical tubes from the manufacturer which exposure optical elements to sea salt for months of traveling by boat. We also check collimation on every optical tube prior to ship them to clients ensuring top quality. That's the MallinCam difference.
MallinCam has received a batch of VRC-16T (Video Ritchey-Chretien) 16" optical truss tube. At 81.6 pounds including the supplied dual speed focuser, this work of art is truly within the reach of the most discriminating Live Video CCD observers, videographers and astrophotographers. It also works for any large sensor DSLR or cooled CCD astrophotography cameras. At F/8, it will provide an excellent imaging platform for any discriminating user. Constructed ot carbon fiber with Serrurier truss tube design, with CNC-machined stainless steel and aluminum components. Optics are low thermal expansion quartz for the primary and secondary mirror, with 99% reflectivity non-tarnishing multi-layer dielectric mirror coatings. Three large 12VDC cooling fans are included on the back plate, providing ventilation to critical areas of the primary quartz mirror. Collimating screws and locking screws provide solid mirror lock and fine collimation of the primary and secondary mirrors. 18 floating points provide uniform primary mirror support. For mounting the scope comes with top and bottom Losmandy 'D' type dove tails standard. Total weight is 81.6 pounds, excellent for most heavy duty class EQ mounts capable of supporting at least 90 instrument pounds. We no longer post prices on these optical tubes.
