ALL SSI MODELS ARE IN STOCK

SSIc (colour)  $469.99 USD,
SSIm (monochrome) = $549.99 USD,

SSI-L (large sensor) = $879.99 USD,
To the right, see Jack Huerkamp video while broadcasting live on http://nightskiesnetwork.ca using a Lunt 152 and a MallinCam SSIc in monochrome mode from Waning Moon II Observatory in Louisiana USA.
To the right, Dr Simon Hanmer of Ottawa Canada  Captured this eruption on June 25 2016 with a MallinCam SSIm Camera and a Coronado SolarMax II 90.
Jupiter to the right, I took this image of Jupiter on February 24th, in the highlands of Costa Rica—the Arenal region, to be precise.  The skies finally cleared after some torrential rains, and as you can tell the seeing was excellent.  I used a Celestron Nexstar 6se, with their 2” diagonal and your 2 inch barlow.  Just used it in alt-az—no wedge.  I took 1000 frames, and used the best 800 with Registax, then finished it off with the free version of Photopad.  I believe it is Io that is transiting.

I continue to be thrilled with the camera’s performance.

Cheers!
Tom Owen

THE MALLINCAM SSI (Solar System Imager)

The new MallinCam SSI is a dedicated planetary, lunar and solar (with proper solar filter) imager that runs through USB-2 and a PC computer. Images are displayed live with the same CRS system (Constant Refreshed System) as the MallinCam Universe.  Not only you can view live solar system objects but you can record in AVI, BMP, TIFF and JPEG for unsurpassed image quality.

The heart of the new MallinCam SSI is the 1.49 MegaPixel superCMOS ceramic scientific class 0 sensor with pixel size of 3.63 microns and total image size of 1.39 MegaPixels.
This high performance sensor boasts a Readout Noise of 1.3e- (r.m.s) and a Quantum Efficiency of 76% (@ 500nm).

The external case is made of all metal cast aluminum for more efficient heat transfer. The external color of the camera has been selected after extensive testing to reject all solar heat when the camera is exposed to direct sunlight. A C-mount to 1.25" eyepiece adapter is included, and the SSI comes with a 5 meter (16.4 feet ) USB-2 cable.  The camera is powered from the USB source from the PC computer.  The MallinCam SSI use a C mount system to facilitate mounting with other MallinCam accessories and from third party accessories.  The front has a sealed chamber with a multicoated optical glass, preventing dust entering on the superCMOS and keeping maintenance to a minimum.  The MallinCam SSI incorporate the high QE and highly acclaimed Sony IMX035LQR superCMOS  class 0 made of ceramic, a contrast to other cameras on the market which use sensors in plastic packaging from low cost webcam style design. The camera is available in monochrome (SSIm) or color (SSIc), both of which provide stunning performance when use with quality optics. The color version (SSIc) can be switched from color to monochrome in the control software at a click of a mouse and yet retain the high performance of the sCMOS in either mode. The monochrome version (SSIm) offer a superior contrast and finer detail only attainable from a monochrome sensor.   Also available is the SSI-L, which has a much larger format sensor (
3 MP!), smaller pixel size at 2.5 microns, and up to 8 seconds exposure.

The internal rear of the camera has a CNC machined Cold Finger which offers effective passive cooling right to the back side of the superCMOS sensor, stabilizing the sensor temperature and spreading the heat to the entire external cabinet and front of 1.25" adapter and through the telescope focuser.  A unique design in the industry only from MallinCam.  We are not afraid to show the highly engineered electronics and electromechanical passive cooling.  Do other companies do the same?  We do our best to be totally transparent in our goals and engineering.  We like to share with you our pride in performance perfection and unbeatable quality only found in a MallinCam.  Our cameras are built to last with quality performance.
